New Ad Spending Forecast
- According to the latest estimate from AdImpact, total midterm advertising expenditures will reach $9.67 billion, the most for any midterm or any political season, including any previous presidential election. By comparison, $3.96 billion was spent during the 2018 midterms.
- BIA Advisory Services predicts much more spending during the last two months before the November elections and AdImpact confirms that forecast, expecting $4.79 billion of the $9.67 billion will be spent from August through November.
- By type of race, down-ballot campaigns are forecast to spend the most at $2.99 billion, with gubernatorial elections second at $2.43 billion, followed by US Senate at $2.37 billion and US House at $1.88 billion. Senate spending will increase the most from 2018 at 136%.
