2021 US Wine Sales Increased Significantly

• After a loss of 10.3% in the total retail value of 2020 US wine sales, Wine Institute reported 2021’s total retail value increased by 17.4% to $78.4 billion and exceeded 2019’s total value by 5.2%.
• The table-wine category increased by 10.6% YOY and 15.6% 2YOY or a total of 369.9 million 9-liter cases. The sparkling-wine category performed even better, with a 28.1% YOY increase and a 24.6% 2YOY increase.
• Wine sales during the first half of 2022 haven’t equaled 2021’s numbers. According to Wine Business Monthly, retail off-premise wine sales declined 5.5% during May, 4.1% during June and 2.6% during July.
